the circus is coming to town

so i remixed duncans demo. i have taken all his guitar out of it, which will hopefully annoy him and he will phone me up all yelling "I QUIT I'M GOING TO EMI" and then coming back next week all "sorry for all those things i said in the heat of the moment", and THEN who will have to do all the baking around here???

listen to "natural history museum café (cherry cola mix)"

p.s. it's not finished, all, i am just posting it here to see if it raises a smile. i KNOW there is a wrong note in the second verse, but the ukelele gone done broke itself after the last take! the bridge just jumped right off when it was lying on my organ. i didn't touch it i swear. it is sad not to have a ukelele

top 3 ways I have considered retiring from the carpets

In no particular order;
In a hot air balloon ride charged to the haircut records account, naturally.
Over a delicious indian meal at The Gaylord charged to the haircut records account, naturally.
Text message.

Hello Carpet chaps. I met various members t'other night at Valentino's in Brighton for Kate's birthday - maybe you remember me, but chances are you don't, so I shall give a brief recap.

We discussed such things as local bands and labels, whereupon I mentioned the band that I 'manage' (in the loosest possible terms), Her Majetsy's Clockwork Army. They don't have any sort of a deal at the moment, but are pretty ambitious and have a whole bunch of fine songs ready to go that they've honed over the last couple of years. Why, here - see what you think:

HMCA Live 27/2/05
Window Twin
Rabbit From A Hat
Don't Get Ill
Fresh Fruit

Pip-pip.

Mr Duncan Barrett from Carpet Ministry

This is what Carpet Ministry are up to: we are not on speaking terms. I have written several songs lately but I am holding them back from the rest of the band because i feel they would ruin them. I have been doing this since 1997.
Meanwhile I've been concentrating on a number of different projects: helping my Dad build a wall, researching my paper on corporate sponsorship of public bodies, and organising a south-east regional volleyball conference. Look out for it at a beach near you.
sincerely yours,
Duncan
